A photograph of Parnell Street in Wexford Town. The street is named after Charles Parnell, who was an Irish nationalist political leader (leader of the Irish Parliamentary Party). This particular street runs from Trinity Street to Lambert Place. Photo date: Saturday, the 22nd of November, 2014. If my memory serves me correctly, it was a calm and sunny morning! Not too cold either!
1798 Street, Wexford
Photographs of 1798 Street, which is a relatively-new street in Wexford Town. Named after the 1798 rebellion, this street runs from the front of the old Wexford Gaol on Spawell Road to the roundabout at Redmond Road. On this street, you'll find Topaz, Richie Doyles Butchers and Fast Fit. These were taken on a bitter cold morning on the 28th of December, 2014.
Up until a couple of years ago, the bank on the left was filled with trees, etc. Recently, it has been cleaned up and a number of stone benches have been placed there.

Wexford Marina
A photograph of the Wexford Marina, which was built when the old woodenworks on Wexford quay were torn down. Most of the boats that you see here are privately-owned pleasure vessels. This was taken on a sunny Sunday afternoon in September of 2014. To see a picture of the marina during winter, click here.

A photograph of the Stoney Park roundabout (Seamus Kelly Roundabout), as seen from the hill in front of the new Wexford County Council building. Also visible in the background is the St. Johns Volunteers GAA clubhouse and the River Slaney. This was taken on a wet and windy day on St. Stephen's Day in 2014.

A photograph of Temperance Row in Wexford Town. Taken on a cold frosty morning on the 29th of December, 2014. This is the Selskar area of Wexford. Visible in the distance are The Holy Grail, E O Leary barbershop and FR2 hairdressing. In the past, this area was nicknamed the "Hey Bay"; most likely because sheep were kept here before they went out on the ships. The street on the left is called Trimmers Lane.
Glamour, Wexford
A photograph of the new Glamour outlet on Wexford's South Main Street. This picture was taken before it had opened. Glamour is a Loreal Product Salon that is situated beside the Emerald Gardens, in the premises that used to house the O'Neills newsagents.
Dealz, Wexford
A photograph of the Dealz shop on Wexford's South Main Street. Dealz is a bargain shop that sells food, bathroom products, home and garden products and a lot of other things! This was taken at night, after the shop had closed. When the store is open, its lights brighten up the street, as is evidenced by this photograph of Simon's Place.
Ann's Angels, Wexford
A photograph of the premises that used to contain Ann's Angels, which was a psychic / card-reading shop that was located in Cinema Lane, Wexford. Later, the store moved to Selskar Street, where it operated until 2012. In December of 2012, it emerged that the owner of the store had been forced to pay €210,000 to Revenue because of an under declaration of income tax.

A photograph of Rowe Street, which is a historic street in Wexford Town. Rowe Street stretches from North Main Street up towards Lower John Street. It is also the location of Rowe Street Church, as well as businesses such as Red Star Pizza and Martins Jewellers.

Cistin Eile, Wexford
A photograph of Warren Gillen's Cistin Eile restaurant, which is located on South Main Street in Wexford Town. This was taken during December of 2014. Cistin Eile is a traditional Irish restaurant that serves foods such as loin of bacon, cream of potato soup, cod fritters, lamb, hake, haddock and beef!

A photograph of Charlotte Street, which runs between North Main Street and Wexford Town's quay-front. This was taken on the 6th of October, 2014, just after a quick rain shower had passed over the town. To the right, you can see the entrance for the Centenary Stores.

Ferrycarrig Bridge
A photograph of Ferrycarrig Bridge (N11 Road), which is just outside of Wexford Town. The official name is Edermine Bridge. On the right, you can see the roundtower that stands on the banks of the River Slaney. Contrary to popular belief, this roundtower is not an early Christian monument (although it was styled after one). The tower was actually built as a memorial for those who had died in the Crimea War in the 1800s.
The current bridge, which crosses the River Slaney, was built back in 1980. To the right, you can also see the spot where the Oak Tavern was situated, before it burned down in 2006.

Silvermines, Wexford
A photograph of the empty premises that used to contain Silvermines, which is a silver jewellers. More recently, it was home to a Turkish barbers (I was in it about two months ago). The premises is situated on Wexford's South Main Street, on the corner with Allen Street. Photo taken in December of 2014.

Redmond Square, Wexford
A photograph of Redmond Square, which is situated across from the train station in Wexford Town. This shot was taken outside of Dunnes Stores on St. Stephen's Day in 2014. Although rain had fallen throughout much of the day, it had started to clear up at about 4pm, only to be replaced by a bitterly cold wind! Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that you can't see my breath in this photo!

Sculpture outside of the Wexford County Council
A photograph of the sculpture outside of the Wexford County Council building in Carricklawn. This bronze statue is called "Solstice" and it was created by Irish bronze-casting sculptor Rowan Gillespie, who was born in Dublin. Rowan also created the famous famine statues that are visible on Dublin City's quay-fronts.

Hamilton's, Wexford
A photograph of the W.R. Hamilton and Son premises, which has been located in Wexford Town's Bullring for decades. This shop, which is owned by "The Phone Doctor" (Nigel Hamilton), sells a number of different things, such as giftware, phone chargers and iPhone batteries. As you can see, some of the signs on the front of the shop are pretty "colourful" with their language!

Uncle Sams, Wexford
A photograph of Uncle Sam's, which is a fast-food takeaway on Wexford Town's South Main Street, on the corner with Cinema Lane. Uncle Sams sells foods such as taco chips, hot dogs, pizza and burgers. In the past, this building was occupied by Peter Murphy & Sons, which was a family-owned grocers.
Marian Shrine, Wexford
The Marian Shrine / Rocklands Shrine is a religious site that is located on Wexford's R730 regional road. The site was opened in 1955.
The shrine is located inside a gated garden, which has two benches on opposite sides. On the rocks in front, you can see a statue of Our Lady (Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Jesus Christ). The site is also adorned with candles, small statues and blue-painted concrete blocks.
A "Marian Shrine" is basically a shrine to the Virgin Mary.
A commemorative stone at the shrine reads: "Pray for the repose of the soul of Dr. P.J. Sinnott (Rockland House) - Donor of this site."

Scissors Empire, Wexford
A photograph of the Scissors Empire premises on Wexford's South Main Street. Fun fact: The woman being shown in the photographs on the front of the window is actress Charlie Murphy, who plays Siobhan in RTE's crime drama "Love / Hate". Charlie is from Wexford and her parents actually own this hairdressers.

New Look, Wexford
A photograph of the New Look entrance on Wexford Town's North Main Street. Unfortunately, this photo was snapped at an inopportune time. One of the busiest shopping days of the year had just passed and the town was full of people doing the 12 Pubs of Christmas. This had a bit of a negative impact on the town in regards to litter. Fortunately, it usually isn't like this!
