The Castle Bar, Enniscorthy

A photograph of The Castle Bar in Enniscorthy, County Wexford. This was taken on Friday, the 6th of February, 2015.

The Castle Bar is situated on Enniscorthy's Castle Hill, next to the Wexford County Childcare outlet (pretty sure that it is named after Enniscorthy Castle, which is just a few metres up the road). Judging from an old Google Maps streetview picture, this used to be an entrance to the Myles Kehoe bar and off licence.

Fifty One was a rather short-lived pub (bar and grill) that was situated on Wexford's South Main Street, at the intersection between Cinema Lane and Peter Street. The bar was launched in December of 2013. Before Fifty One was opened, this premises was home to South 51.

Update: The building has been refurbished and it is now home to coffee house chain Costa Coffee.

Asples Bar, Wexford

A photograph of the stone building that once contained Asples Bar in Wexford Town. This was a popular night spot for many years until it closed down. The premises was also home to a bar called Jazzy B's, which opened in 2010.

The architecture of this building is pretty interesting. While the front is old-fashioned brick-work, the other side is extremely rounded and modern-looking. This was taken in the Crescent Quay car park.

One its most defining characteristics is that it is jam-packed with pubs such as Maggie Mays, T. Morris, The Loch and Quay and the Mocking Monck. This is one of the most popular night spots in the town. Photo taken in October of 2014.

It is worth noting that Bugler Doyles also offers a B&B service, which could come in handy if you're too legless to make it home!

Chocolate Bar, Wexford

A photograph of Chocolate Bar, which was a pub that was situated on Wexford Town's Common Quay Street, close to the Bullring. In the past, a popular nightclub called The Renaissance used to be situated above the bar. Unfortunately, it dwindled in popularity before eventually closing its doors.

At the end of 2014, it was reported that the premises had been put up for sale by Grant Thornton - a professional services firm that took over on behalf of Ulster Bank when its original owner Bull McCabe's Ltd. went into receivership.

A shot of the premises in February, 2016. As you can see, the roofed section of the beer garden has been boarded up. A sign in the bottom left hander corner advertises Chocolate Bar's Bistro Menu, which was served every evening between 6PM and 9PM:

Here are a few pictures of The Renaissance's interior (apologies for the low quality):

It has three separate floors, all of which play their own music. It also contains three smoking areas (although one of these was closed just as we were dipping into recession and attendance rates were dwindling). The Stores also has a regular bar, which serves food, tea and coffee during the day.

Below is a photograph of the nightclub, as seen from Wexford's quay-front. The lane on the left is commonly referred to as Roman Lane.
