Culleton Insurances, Wexford

A photograph of the Culleton Insurances office, which was once situated at Temperance Row in Wexford town. The office was closed back in 2011 when the company decided to exit the personal home and motor insurance market (they sold this portion of their business to 123.ie).

Hughes & Hughes, Wexford

A street view image of the Hughes & Hughes bookstore that was once present in Redmond Square in Wexford town. This was captured in May of 2009, back when the 2009 Local Elections were on (you can see an election poster for Fine Gael candidate Philomena Roche). The store was closed in February of 2010 - after the company went into receivership. 225 staff members throughout Ireland were let go as a result.

Square Discs, Wexford

A photograph of Square Discs, which was a music store that was situated in Redmond Square, Wexford - This image was snapped by the Google Street View team just after it had closed. Date: March 2009.

The Crescent View Restaurant, Wexford

A photograph of The Crescent View Restaurant on Crescent Quay in Wexford town. In the past, the premises housed a popular newsagents. To the right of the restaurant, you can see the John Barry statue. This was taken in January of 2015. The restaurant was closed in October of 2015, after it was served with its second closure order within the space of four months.

Moore's Shop, Wexford

A street view image of Moore's shop, which was a newsagents on Carrigeen Street in Wexford town. Before its closure in May of 2009, Moore's had been in business for over 80 years and was extremely popular amongst students of the nearby Presentation Secondary School.

Hibernian Aviva, Wexford

A Google streetview image of the Hibernian Aviva outlet that used to exist on the corner of Selskar Street and Slaney Street in Wexford town. In January of 2009, Hibernian insurance announced that would be re-branding itself as Hibernian Aviva. 12 months later, in December of 2009, the company re-branded itself as Aviva. In November of 2011, the company announced that it was shutting its Irish branches.

Nowadays, this particular outlet is occupied by recruitment agency Turas Nua.

Euro Deal, Wexford

A Google streetview image of the recently-closed Euro Deal store on Wexford's Selskar Street. Euro Deal was a discount store that sold a variety of different products at a low price. Previously, the premises had been home to O' Neills newsagents.



To the left, you can see fast-food restaurant Burger Mac. On the right, you can see bookmakers Paddy Power.

Cash Encounters, Wexford

A photograph of the Cash Encounters outlet that used to exist on Selskar Street in Wexford. This was a "Cash For Gold" shop that also carried out mobile phone repairs.

Costa Plus Sofas, Wexford

A photograph of the closed "Costa Plus Sofas" furniture store in Wexford Retail Park. In June of 2013, it was announced that the nationwide chain had decided to close a number of its stores in an attempt to "restructure" the business. The company had struggled throughout the recession, as consumer spending dwindled.

Hunter's Bargain Stores, Wexford

A Google Street View image of Hunter's Bargain Stores, which was a large outlet on Redmond Road in Wexford Town. This store sold everything from car accessories to power tools, pet food, toys and stationery. The store closed in 2011, along with its outlets in New Ross, Enniscorthy, Gorey and Carrick on Suir in County Tipperary. The owners closed Hunter's Bargain Stores because of a downturn in business and "increased competition".

This image was captured in June of 2009. Nowadays, this building (Eden House) is split up into two separate retail outlets (Marathon Fitness and Sadhana Yoga).

McDonald's Pub, Wexford

A Google Street View image of McDonald's Pub on Wexford's South Main Street. This was captured in June of 2009. Nowadays, the premises is home to a pub called the Foggy Dew Inn.

Circus, Wexford

A Google Street View image of Circus, which was a shop on Wexford's Common Quay Street. Up until recently, the premises was occupied by a store called Hen's Teeth.

Kaleidoscope, Wexford

A Google Street View image of Kaleidoscope, which was a store on Wexford's Anne Street. The slogan of the shop was "Less ordinary food & kids stuff." Nowadays, this particular outlet is occupied by a shop called Cobbler & Keys.

La Bodega, Wexford

A Google Street View image of La Bodega, which was a Spanish tapas bar on Wexford's Anne Street. This image was captured by the Google Street View car in June of 2009. More recently, the premises was occupied by a Chinese takeaway restaurant called Ping Kee.

La Scala, Wexford

A Google Street View image of La Scala, which was an Italian restaurant that was situated in Cornmarket, Wexford. The restaurant closed during the downturn when its owner fell into serious financial difficulties.

Later, after La Scala had closed, the premises became home to Opera Steakhouse. This image was captured in June of 2009.

Moloney's Grocers, Wexford

A Google Street View image of Moloney's Grocers, which was situated on the corner of Abbey Street and George's Street. In the past, this particular premises was home to a newsagents called The Gem. Nowadays, it is occupied by the Abbey Street Pharmacy.

Blu Bathrooms, Wexford

A photograph of the Blu Bathrooms premises in Wexford's Whitemill Industrial Estate. This building was used as a showroom before its closure.

Smart Cartridge, Wexford

A Google Street View image of the closed Smart Cartridge premises on Wexford's Custom House Quay. Smart Cartridge used to sell PCs, laptops, PC accessories and as the name suggests, printer cartridges. More recently, the building was home to Dinero Fine Art & Antique.

Planet Auto, Wexford

A Google Street View image of the Planet Auto premises at Key West in Wexford. This was taken in June of 2009, before the shop closed. As the name suggests, Planet Auto sold car accessories and the like. The company behind the shop was set up in November in 2004. It officially dissolved in April of 2010.

Bernies Hair Salon, Wexford
