12 Pubs of Christmas - Wexford

Photographs of Wexford during the "12 Pubs of Christmas" night on Saturday, the 20th of December, 2014. As you can see, the town was extremely busy and litter was at a much higher level than what it usually is. That night, there were a number of arrests for public order offences (remember, this is when staff parties are in full swing and people are drinking more than what they can handle, simply because the name of the game is to visit 12 pubs and have a drink in each one of them).

Parade on North Main Street, Wexford

A photograph of the Santa parade on Wexford's North Main Street. This was taken in November of 2014, during the Christmas season. As you can see, the place was flooded with people, making it extremely difficult to move! In retrospect, it might have been a better idea to hold the parade on Wexford's quay-front, which would have surely given the crowds more space.

Selskar Street, Wexford

A photograph of Selskar Street in Wexford Town. This was taken during the Christmas season of 2014, when the festive lights were hanging across the main street.

On the left, you can see Nosh Coffee and Deadly Discounts (the yellow shop). On the right, you can see Euro Deal and Burger Mac.

This was taken in front of the Dunnes Stores supermarket in Redmond Square.

This photograph was taken in October of 2014. On the right, you can see Selskar Pharmacy, which is on the corner of Skeffington Street. On the left, you can see the Barnardos charity shop. This particular shot was taken in front of The Bike Shop.

The Premier, Wexford

A photograph of The Premier, which is located on Wexford Town's South Main Street. The Premier is probably the most famous / well-known chip shop in the town. Head in here if you're looking for some fish and chips (or a battered rissole!) This was taken during the holiday season in 2014.

The Faythe, Wexford

Photographs of The Faythe area of Wexford Town. These photographs were taken on St. Stephen's Day in 2014 (hence the Christmas lights on the trees).

The Faythe, Wexford

The name comes from the Irish word "faiche", which translates into "fair green." In the past, The Faythe was used as the location for the town fair (along with John Street).

A night-time photograph of the Presbyterian Church in Wexford Town. The "United Presbyterian and Methodist Church" is located on Anne Street, beside the Post Office. The lights hanging over the street were there because the photograph was taken during the Christmas season.

Redmond Square, Wexford

A photograph of Redmond Square, which is situated across from the train station in Wexford Town. This shot was taken outside of Dunnes Stores on St. Stephen's Day in 2014. Although rain had fallen throughout much of the day, it had started to clear up at about 4pm, only to be replaced by a bitterly cold wind! Frankly, I'm a bit surprised that you can't see my breath in this photo!

Here is a shot of the Redmond Square monument during the day (Dec 28th 2014). Built in memory of Home Rule MP John Redmond. In the background, you can see shops such as Polonez and O'Briens.

Selskar Under The Stars

Video footage of one of the events showing at Selskar Under The Stars. Here is "Jingle Bells" being performed by the Loch Garman Youth Band:

The performance was apart of the "Wexford Artists" slot at Selskar Under The Stars, which is a venue that has been erected in Trimmer's Lane for the Wexford Winterland festival. All proceeds of ticket sales for this particular slot went towards the Wexford Marine Watch.

Here is a photograph of the event:

The Bullring was quick to fill up with people, as it was the area where the main stage was constructed. On the left, you can see the large red switch that was used to turn on the Christmas lights:

Unfortunately, it was extremely difficult to get photos of the actual parade, as the crowd continued to swell, making it impossible to set down a tripod!
